The Vermont Country Store
January 10, 2003
I remember a phone conversation with my father where he asked me if I
knew of any place where he can purchase some shoe stretchers. He told me
that he would prefer the ones that came with dome like pegs that you
fasten to the outer section of the stretcher to allow for bunions and what
not in the shoe. I said "No problem, Dad". Little did I know that it was a
problem!
I thought that I could find anything, but I was wrong. I looked
everywhere I could think of. No luck. Then after several months, I came
across a catalog for the "Vermont Country Store -- Purveyors of the
Practical & Hard-To-Find". I thought that with a title like that, I
just might have some luck. I was right!
Not only did they have the exact shoe stretchers my dad wanted, but they
had a sweeper that I had been looking for for years! They also carry
products that may have been discontinued or kind of fizzled out over the
years. There were so many wonderful things in that catalog and the prices
are reasonable. You can also find products that your mother or grandmother
used.
I've come to find that they also have a
website.
And if you can't find what you are looking for in their catalog or
website,
you can request an item and they will try to find it for you.
